Court Appoints Tousley Brain Stephens as Lead Counsel in Premera Blue Cross Data Breach Litigation

U.S. District Judge Michael H. Simon has appointed Chris Brain, Kim Stephens, Chase Alvord, and Jason Dennett of Tousley Brain Stephens as interim lead class counsel to represent a putative class of Premera health plan subscribers.

The multidistrict litigation consolidated before Judge Simon in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon involves more than three dozen lawsuits filed by Premera health plan subscribers. The lawsuits allege that Premera allowed a massive breach of its data systems, permitting hackers access to the personal, medical, and financial information of more than 11 million Premera subscribers and employees. The lawsuits also allege that Premera failed to detect the hackers and disclose the breach publicly for nearly a year after it occurred. Plaintiffs seek damages resulting from the theft of their confidential information.

Tousley Brain Stephens attorneys represent consumers in class action lawsuits nationwide.
