Case Details

The Honorable William L. Dixon granted final approval of a class action settlement with the Washington Department of Licensing. The case arises from a data breach that was announced in February 2022, in which personal information of professional licensees, including their names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and/or drivers’ license information may have been exposed to criminal hackers.

The settlement requires DOL to fund a settlement of $3.6 million, which will be used to reimburse class members for out-of-pocket losses stemming from, and time spent addressing, the data breach. In addition, class members can sign up for two years of identity theft protection services and credit monitoring. The settlement fund will also be used to pay for attorneys’ fees and costs, as well as the cost of administering the settlement. You can find additional information regarding the settlement at the settlement website: wadoldatabreachsettlement.com

Class members are now receiving notice of the settlement with instructions for filing claims. The deadline to submit a claim form is October 9, 2023.
