Professional Experience
Shannon's practice combines complex commercial litigation and business advising, with an emphasis on acquisition, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Shannon advises clients on best practices to grow their businesses and avoid conflict, and to protect their interests through litigation when necessary. She represents clients in civil litigation in state and federal courts and in contested administrative proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Shannon also teaches intellectual property and contracts law to videogame design students at DigiPen Institute, an internationally-known videogame design university.
Representative Matters
Authored summary judgment motion finding liability on Digital Millennium Copyright Act-based claim against Internet service provider defendant for contributory copyright infringement of client's property
Negotiated settlement of copyright infringement dispute with creative settlement terms designed to protect client from future litigation
Enforced copyright and trademark rights of apparel manufacturer through pre-litigation means including cease-and-desist and DMCA take-down notices, domestically and against international infringers
Negotiated joint venture for consulting firm spin-off from international consulting company, including releases of non-compete obligations for firm members and joint licensing and ownership of co-developed products
Successfully revived trademark application following three-year suspension, resulting in approval and registration by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
